Anna May Rippert, 89, died June 8 of natural causes. She was born to Brooke and Rosa Lee Meade on August 13, 1924. After attending Annapolis Senior High School, Anna May worked as a C & P telephone operator and later retired from a position of Tax Assessment Clerk with the State of Maryland. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, and baking cakes with her "famous" fudge frosting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eastport. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rippert was preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Rippert; her son, James Edward; her brothers, Alvin and Arnold; and her sisters, Dorothy, Esther, Lydia, Lorraine and Elsie. She is survived by her son, Robert Rippert of Crownsville; her daughters, Joyce Metzger of Annapolis and Sharon Whitney of Glenville, PA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville. Following the service, a time of fellowship and sharing will be held at the First Baptist Church of Eastport, 208 Chesapeake Ave., Annapolis.
