Joel Dan Lehman, "Jack," 81, of Annapolis and previously of Edgewater, died June 24 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. He was born March 13, 1933 in Hagerstown. Jack received a Master's of Education in Counseling and Psychology from Bowie State College in 1970; a Bachelor's of Science in Marketing and Business Administration in 1969 from the University of Baltimore; and, attended Anne Arundel Community College, St. John's College of Annapolis, and Howard University. Jack started his career as a radio announcer for a number of stations from 1952 to 1959. He was the Assistant to the State Comptroller and Public Information Officer from 1959 to 1970, and served as Supervising and Senior Analyst for the Department of Fiscal Services, General Assembly of Maryland in Annapolis from September 1970 until January 1992. His memberships included: Maryland Classified Employees Association, serving as State-wide Board of Directors member, Treasurer and President; Governor's Commission on Employment of the Handicapped; President's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped; Edgewater, Maryland Elementary School P.T.A., serving as President; Boy Scouts of America, and former Scout Master; District of Columbia National Guard, and former enlisted man; Maryland Justice of the Peace for Anne Arundel County (1959-1961); Annapolis Chapter, St. John's College Alumni Association, and President, 1991 1996; Adjunct Professor of Psychology, Anne Arundel Community College (1994-1996); Anne Arundel County Chief Democratic Judge of Elections (1996-1997); Commissioner, Anne Arundel County Ethics Commission (1997-1999); and Ordained Lay Minister, American Evangelical Church from 1959- to 2014. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Lehman, on August 1, 2005. He is survived by his son, Joel Dan Lehman II of Washington, DC; his daughter, Marlyn Marvel of Camden, DE; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, on Monday, June 30, at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Gloucester St., Annapolis, where a funeral will begin at Noon. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
