Josephine "Jo" Oaksmith, 93, a resident of Annapolis since 1941 and previously of Columbus, Ohio died July 23 at home. Born February 7, 1921 in Columbus, Ohio, Josephine worked from 1950 to 1965 for Nationwide Insurance Co., and then retired in 1980 from ARINC Research Corp. She was a member of the West Annapolis Ladies Auxiliary of the West Annapolis Fire Department and the Ladies of the Elks, Lodge #622. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, William Gibbs Oaksmith, who died in 1980; two daughters, Sharon Lee Lannon, who died in 1992 and Linda Sue Rogers who died in 2008; and sister Laura M. Dean. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley A. Hartung of Pasadena and Janet A. Zaccari of Davidsonsville; brother, Robert C. Isaac Jr. of Nags Head, NC; sister, Jean A. Duckett of Davidsonville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 27 at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis where services will be held 11 a.m., July 28 in the Taylor Chapel. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
