Doris Jacquelyn "Jackie" Cantello, 83, a 51-year resident of Annapolis, died July 25 at her home following a 4-year battle with cancer. Born November 11, 1930 in Monumental, WV to the late Hetzler and Oda Brownlee, Jackie graduated from Barrickville High School in 1948. She went to work as an operator for the C&P Telephone Company in West Virginia and Washington, DC. Most recently, and for more than 30 years, Jackie worked as a scheduling coordinator at the U.S. Naval Academy Visitors Center. On August 13, 1960, Jackie married Lt. Albert A. Cantello, USMC at the Quantico Marine Base Chapel. The couple had to postpone their honeymoon, however, because Lt. Cantello was a member of the 1960 U.S. Olympic team. A few years later, the couple was able to go on their honeymoon. Jackie enjoyed riding her lawn mower, being a wife and mother, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her son, Albert A. Cantello, Jr.; three brothers, Carroll, Howard and Loal Hetzler Brownlee; and two sisters, Juanita Darrah and Lois Jean Brownlee. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Albert A. Cantello, Sr.; two daughters, Karla C. McMahon of Annapolis and Karen C. O'Kane of Severna Park; three brothers, Don Brownlee of Hamilton, VA, Wayne Brownlee of Sterling Park, VA and Gary Brownlee of Grant Town, WV; three sisters, Glenda Moore of Clinton, Zelma Cameron of Springfield, VA and Ruth Sirbaugh of Myrtle Beach, SC; and seven grandchildren, Kellen, Koby and Kylie McMahon, Charlie and Sam Cantello; and Brendan and Audrey O'Kane.
