Sara L. Fragale "Nannie," 83, of Edgewater, and formerly a longtime resident of Riverdale, died peacefully November 5.
Born in 1929 in Clarksburg, WV, Sara was the eldest of two children. She worked at the University of Maryland for 20 years. After her retirement, Sara pursued her real passions in life: singing, acting and entertaining. She brought her talents to the stage and to the residents of the Villa Rosa Nursing Home, where she was an active volunteer. She was also a wonderful cook and devoted to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Frank O. Fragale.
She is survived by her two daughters, Frankie (Tom) Moran and Georgeann (Martin) Reedy; five granddaughters, Sara (David) Parker, Jackie (Bernie) Cowger, Mia (Matt) Edson, Joey (Patrick) O'Connell and Madison Moran; three great-granddaughters, Grace, Marti Ann and Lila; and four great-grandsons, Reed, Brooks, Walker and Gavin.
Friends are invited to join the family to help celebrate Sara's life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 12, at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, at Ascension Catholic Church, 12700 Lanham-Severn Rd., Bowie. Interment will follow at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd., Crownsville.
