Wanda Maria Johnson Wood, 61, born December 3, 1951 in Annapolis, died peacefully April 19, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC. She was the youngest child of the late James H. Johnson Sr. and Arline Kess Johnson. She was married to the Rev. Douglas O. Wood. Wanda attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools and graduated from Annapolis Senior High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, she was employed with the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company, and retired from Verizon in 2001, after 30 years of meritorious service. Wanda is survived by her beloved husband of 28 years, Rev. Douglas Wood; children, Shawn Copeland, Denee Wood and Danielle Wood; sister, Marilyn Sills; and brothers, James Johnson Jr. and Clifton Johnson Sr. Services were held on Wednesday, April 24, at Allen Temple AMEC, Greenville, SC. The Final Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, with a Christian Wake beginning at 10 a.m. at Mt. Moriah AMEC, 2204 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis. Interment will follow the Services at Bestgate Memorial Park, 814 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis. Services entrusted to Rich-Colonial Funeral Home, Anderson, SC., and William Reese & Sons Mortuary, 1922 Forest Dr., Annapolis.
