Martin Luther Lowry Jr., 85, died May 9. Mr. Lowry was born in Robeson County December 6, 1927 to the late Rev. M. L. Lowry Sr. and wife, Cammie Lowry. He served in the Armed Forces and is a Veteran of the Korean War. He graduated in 1954, from what is currently the University of North Carolina, Pembroke. He is listed in the "Who's Who'' in the American Schools and Colleges. His career in teaching began in North Carolina and he continued as an educator for over 30 years with Anne Arundel County Public Schools. His hobbies included fishing, wood-carving, painting, photography and music. His most recent interests included ballroom dancing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowry was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Joanne Marie Husson who died in 1995; and five siblings. He is survived by his seven children, Craig Lowry, Denise Brannon, Myron Lowry, Lisa Lowry, Michele Sweeney, Martin Lowry and David Lowry; two brothers; two sisters; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
