WELLS, JEAN S. Jean Sullender Wells, a 30 year resident of Annapolis, died May 13, 2013 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born in Richmond, VA on June 10, 1934, she grew up in Strasburg, VA where her father owned a pharmacy. She attended the College of William and Mary and Richmond Professional Institute, and for four years, Jean was the secretary to the Head of the Physics Department in the Nuclear Reactor Building at North Carolina State University. During her lifetime, she developed numerous friendships and relationships that were still very strong up to the time of her death. She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Club and the American Legion, and she enjoyed the time that was spent with family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, William Tunstall Wells, who died March 30, 1991, her son, Stuart Wells, and a former longtime companion, Jack Smallman. She is survived by her sons, Ramsey Wells of Blue Ridge, VA and Gregory Wells of Columbia, SC, her sister, Ellen Virginia Minter of Williamsport, MD, grandchildren, Victoria, Caroline, Kenneth and Michelle Wells, great grandchildren, Chase and Kelly Jean, and Jack Smallman's children, Susan Torney and Barbara, Ron and John Smallman. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17 at 3:00 PM at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. A celebration of Jean's life will follow at the Fleet Reserve Club.
