Rita Fountain Pearson, 95, of Irvine, CA, formerly of Annapolis and Severna Park, died June 15 of a stroke at her daughter's home. She was born in Chicopee, MA on September 17, 1917 to Joseph and Eva Fleury Fountain. Rita was a Legal Secretary for the firm of McWilliams & Melvin for many years. In 1965, William McWilliams was appointed to the Maryland State Court of Appeals and Rita joined him as his Executive Assistant. She served in this position for two Appellate Court Judges before her retirement from the State of Maryland in 1981. Rita and her husband were former members of the Annapolis Power Squadron, Annapolis Yacht Club and West River Yacht Club, Chartwell Golf and Country Club and Heritage Harbour Gold Club. Together, Rita and Bud enjoyed many years golfing, boating and traveling. Rita successfully competed in the Maryland Senior Olympics golf tournaments. She was a member of the ladies golf groups at Eisenhower and Heritage Harbour. She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Fountain; her sister, Constance Fortin; and her husband, Carlton Edward "Bud" Pearson. Rita is survived by her sister, Eve Albanesi of Simi Valley; her son, Robert Pearson of Annapolis; her daughter, Patricia Giglio of Irvine, CA; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorial gathering and interment are private.
