Jacob Peter Wohlgemuth III "Jake", 88, of Annapolis died peacefully July 27 at Sunrise of Annapolis Assisted Living. He was born in Annapolis August 10, 1924. Jake graduated from Annapolis High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Army (1943 1946), where he rose to the rank of Sergeant in the Army Medical Corps, Valley Forge, PA. It was there that Jake met his future wife Jean, an Army nurse. Jake had a long career at the former Naval Experimental Station (David Taylor Research Lab) where he worked his way up from mechanic to a senior shop foreman, retiring in 1984. For a number of years, he was a volunteer firefighter for the Anne Arundel Co. Fire Dept. He was a long-time member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, the Masons (DeMolay), and the Annapolis Elks Club. Jake was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jean Yeager Wohlgemuth and a son, Christian Yeager Wohlgemuth. He is survived by two sons, Jacob P. Wohlge-muth IV of Fayetteville, GA and John Wohlgemuth of Salisbury; two grandsons, Sean Wohlgemuth of Austin, TX and Jason Wohlge-muth of Duvall, WA; and two great-granddaughters, Paige and Sadie Wohlgemuth of Austin, TX. A brief service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 1 at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. in Annapolis, immediately followed by interment at St. Anne's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anne's Episcopal Church or the Anne Arundel County Fire Dept.
