Mildred "Millie" Townsend, 79, of Linthicum Heights, died peacefully September 16 in her home. Born in Baltimore City to the late Ethel and Eugene Mackubin, Millie graduated from Western Maryland College and was a long time homemaker and mother who later in life received a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland. She served as a Protective Service Worker with the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services. She enjoyed cake decorating, swimming, playing tennis, quilting and traveling. She also enjoyed volunteering for United Methodist Community Services, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Pathfinders at BWI airport and traveling to hurricane stricken states to help with recovery efforts. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Thompson; brother, Kenneth Mackubin; and sister, Doris Leineweber. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dale Townsend; son, Scott Townsend; daughter, Kori Hoene; two brothers, William and Roger Mackubin; sister, Ruth Alt; and two grandsons, Erich and Mason Hoene. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, September 21, at Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church.
