Walter Atkins Walter Atkins, 76, of Denton, died October 26 at his home. He was born December 30, 1936 in Baltimore to the late Henry W. and Florence G. Atkins. Mr. Atkins was a regional manager for Eastern Waste Industries of Henderson. After retirement he owned and operated Wal-Jak's Convenience Store in Queen Anne. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Edna Lorraine Handschuh Atkins. He is survived by three daughters, Robin Lorraine Pinkine and husband Richard of Seaford, DE, Marie Zornak Haddaway and husband Todd of Denton, and Amy Miller and husband Chad of Laurel, DE; brother, Elmer Atkins of Laurel, DE; sister-in-law, Katherine Whay of Pasadena; five grandchildren, Krystal, Mandy, Stevie and Megan Zornak and Jerrica Robertson; great-grandson, Kaeleb Zornak; nephew, Todd Whay; niece, Andrea Whay; and great-nephew, Christopher Nelson. A Funeral service for Mr. Atkins will be held 8 p.m., Thursday, October 31 at the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. and until 9 p.m. following the service.
