Lorry was born in Milwaukee, WI, on March 20, 1925. She was well educated in private schools, got married and had three children. After the dissolution of her marriage, she raised her three children on her own well before it was fashionable to do so. Her career included stints with business management, working in the nursing profession and, of course, cooking for her children, their children, and many friends.
After retirement, her love of cooking and viewing the modern world around her gave her the idea of a recession-proof cookbook, which we all still use.
Living through the Great Depression and watching her parents during that time also had an effect on her inspiration. Lorry was a volunteer at La Jolla Elementary and a volunteer who helped raise her much loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two of her children; many grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Lorry will be greatly missed.
A private service has been held at the Self Realization Temple in Encinitas.
