Francis J. Frank' Schulte May 5, 1929 - June 26, 2017 Rancho Santa Fe Francis J. Schulte, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on June 26, 2017, with his wife Marileigh by his side. Frank was born on May 5, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to William and Rose Schulte. Frank and his twin brother, George, were inseparable until George passed away 16 years ago. He and George were forced to postpone their high school education due to the need to support their parents. They both went to night school and graduated with degrees. They began working for TWA cleaning airplanes, then as mechanics, and were then hired by Pan American Airlines as flight engineers at the age of 22. Both had commercial flight ratings and were flight instructors and flight engineers for Pan American. Frank was so respected by management, he was given the additional duty to check rides for fellow flight engineers measuring and grading their competency to fly in the airplane cockpit. If they failed, they were grounded and failing again meant they needed to find a new job.Frank was blessed with good health and he and his brother were very active in the Rancho Santa Fe Tennis Club for many years. Frank married Lorraine, his childhood sweetheart, and together raised seven children until her passing in 1982. Frank resided in Rancho Santa Fe for 40 years and later moved to Encinitas, CA.Frank is survived by his second wife Marileigh; and seven children, Frank, Stephen, Kristopher, Lisa, Cynthia, Drucilla and Paul. He also had nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Frank will be missed by all his friends and family. May he rest in peace, in the loving hands of our Lord The Father and his son Jesus Christ. Please sign the guest book online at legacy.com/obituaries/ ranchosantafereview .

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to family and friends for the lost of their beloved Francis. I hope the promise at John 6:39 can bring real comfort. Knowing that there is hope for our lost love ones can be reassuring.

I always remember Frank as the "good" twin. He and George who preceded him in death were liked by everyone. I knew both of them from flying out of New York as well as Los Angeles.
George was the "bad" twin . Pan Am had seasonal changes of uniform attire which included changing the pilots hat covers from black to white as the stewardesses changed from long black gloves to short white. George showed up after the changeover date still with his black hat cover on. Hence, he became the "bad" twin.(This came from the old black and white cowboy movies where the good guy wore the white hat, and the bad guy wore the black.) From then on, crews would just ask "are you the good or the bad twin"? After all, they were identical! Frank will be missed, as so many other Pan Amers who have preceded him.

To the Schulte Family from the Levine Family,
On behalf of our entire family, we cannot overstate the deep sense of friendship and love we shared with Frank Schulte and his family for so many years. It is with sadness we learned our great family friend, Frank Schulte, passed.
We have only the deepest sense of appreciation for the memories of love, support, and friendship. We will never forget how Frank and Lorraine openly made us feel as part of their family, beginning oh so many years ago. We were so new to San Diego (over 40 years ago), but none was more kind and welcoming than your Dad.
Simply put, your family's trust, love, and support are cemented forever in our hearts. Frank will always be appreciated and remembered here.
Though we now mourn his passing, we are, nonetheless, joyful for the experience of his life in ours. We will always miss your father dearly.
We, therefore, simply express our reverence for Frank Schulte and his most important legacy.
It is with our deepest sense of respect we will forever mourn his loss, but the life he led truly inspired us. The ideals he modeled still reverberate through each of us.
The entire Schulte family has our sympathy, deepest love, and respect. They always will.
Thank you and God bless,
Sidney and Judith Levine

I knew Frank for over 40 years and his disposition never varied --- always optimistic, kind, gentle and loving. He made life better for everyone who knew him and he will be sorely missed.
Marileigh -- The obituary you wrote for Frank was touching. He loved you very much and very deeply. These days must be extremely hard -- but I hope you will find some comfort in knowing how much joy and love you brought into Frank's life for over 30 years. He was truly blessed to be able to share those years with you.

I will miss you Daddy. It brings me great comfort to know, you are with Mom, finally, after many years apart. The two of you were made for each other. There was no greater woman I knew. I'm so glad you chose her and in turn, gave all your 7 children, the most beautiful upbringing possible. That is love in its purest form
