Rebecca Scharline Blakeslee Obituary
Scharline Blakeslee passed away peacefully on February 11, 2012, at Kindred Hospital. She was born January 28, 1938, in Holdenville, OK, but had been a resident of San Diego since 1970, retiring from the Naval Dental Center at Camp Pendleton in 1998. Scharline was a very active member of local community organizations. She was a member of the Navy League, Military Officers Association of America, and Military Order of the World Wars, Rancho Bernardo Community Garden Club, Seven Oaks Play Goers, Seven Oaks Travel Club, The Rancho Belles, Rancho Bernardo Christian Women's Club, and MADD.
Scharline was preceded in death by husband, Col. (Ret.) Rollin Q. Blakeslee, and son, Raymond Nathaniel Smith. She is survived by three sons, Edward Andrew Smith of TX, Robert William (Shirley) Smith of NM, and Thomas Arnold Smith of NM; brothers, Danny Maddux and Jimmy Maddux both of AZ; grandchildren, Tom Smith of VA, Stephanie Terry of OK, Eddie Smith of TX, and Robert Ray Smith of CA; and eight great-grandchildren.
Sincere appreciation is given to Scharline's many friends for their visitations and concern, and especially to her dear friend, Ruth Suarez, for always being there for her during the last days and at the time of her passing.
She was a very beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. Her beautiful smile and caring ways will truly be missed by her many friends and family.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 17, 2012, at 11am at the Chapel of Rancho Bernardo Presbyterian Church. She will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery.
