INDIAN LAND – Mrs. Frances Furman Campbell, 99, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017.
She was the wife of the late Woodrow 'Woody' W. Campbell. After 41 years of service with Southern Bell Telephone Co., she retired in 1980. Frances loved to play bridge. Until just a few years ago, she was active with the Charlotte Bridge Center and, at age 97, achieved the Life Master Award. Frances was a resident of Charlotte for 60 years, and had been a resident of Sun City Carolina Lakes for 10 years.
Frances is survived by a daughter, Nancy Campbell Downing and son-in-law, Dickerson M. Downing, both of Stamford, Conn.; nephew, John Hicks and his wife, Ginger, of Madison, N.J.; niece, Pamela Hicks Lymberis and her husband, Ted, of Fort Mill; a nephew, Tom Hicks of Missoula, Mont.; a niece, Joanna Colerain of Decatur, Ga.; a great-niece, Mary Lymberis Eggert and husband, Adam Eggert; and a great-great-niece, Aurora Eggert, all of Indian Land.
A memorial service for Frances will be held at a later date at Burgess Funeral Home in Lancaster. Please check their website for details. Burial will be private.
