Stewart, Ruth Viola  
Ruth Viola Stewart, 68, of Finksburg passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 24, 1947 in Carroll, Iowa and was the daughter of the late Elmer H. and Eva M. Fisher Nobiling. She was the loving wife of Roy Joe Stewart, her husband of 48 years. Ruth worked as an administrative professional and was employed at the Department of Defense until she retired in 2005. She enjoyed crafting especially sewing, quilting, and knitting of which she taught several classes. She also enjoyed playing golf. She was a member of the Vision Quilters, Ellicott City; Everybody's Quilt Guild, Westminster; and Quail Valley's Ladies Golf League, Littlestown, PA. She was also an active council member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Park and helped with various functions including the Christmas Bazaar, Silent Auction, Ads Book, Helping Hands, the Dutch Picnic and Property Committees. She was involved with many various community organizations. Surviving in addition to her husband are son and daughter-in-law Scott and Maureen Stewart of Sykesville, daughter and son-in-law Shelli and Mark Giardino of Loxahatchee, FL; granddaughter Kaitlyn Stewart of Atlanta, GA; siblings Lee Nobiling of Council Bluffs, IA, Edna Hansman of Westside, IA, Clayton Nobiling of Denison, IA, Karen Onken of Jamaica, Dale Nobiling of Council Bluffs, IA; and many extended loving family and group of friends. She was predeceased by an infant brother David . The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 833 Deer Park Rd., Westminster with Rev. Dahl Drenning officiating. Additional services and interment will be held on Saturday in Westside, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church, Old Church Restoration, 833 Deer Park Rd., Westminster MD 21157 or Carroll Hospice Center, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster MD 21157.

Scharon, Betty  
Betty passed away in her home in Richmond, Virginia on August 26, 2015. Born in Baltimore, Md., on December 15, 1924, she spent most of her life in Carroll County, Maryland. Married to Louis Scharon for 71 years, they enjoyed a full and rich life together. She is survived by three children, Stephen Scharon of Farmington, Maine, Michael Scharon of Westminster, Md. and Kathleen Burns of Richmond, Va., two daughter-in-laws, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Betty followed the entrepreneurial spirit, which took her into a variety of ventures including small farming, school secretary, a large scale egg operation, and owner/operator of Scharon's Black Eagle gift shop. Betty's passions were taking care of her family, gardening, volunteering in the local community particularly Carroll County Literacy Council, the Carroll County Farm Museum, and her church. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Christian Church in Richmond, Va. on September 12 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to any of the following would have pleased her: The American Cancer Society, the Carroll County Literacy Council ( carrollcountyliteracy.org ), or the Carroll County Farm Museum ( ccgovernment.carr.org ).

Seyfer, Marvin  
Marvin Jerome Seyfer, age 89 of Hampstead, formally of Owings Mills, MD died Thursday August 27, 2015 in York, Pa, at home with family. He was born Feb. 26, 1926 in Baltimore, MD. Marvin was a retired Baltimore City Police Officer. He was member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a life member of the Owings Mills VFW and the Marine Corp League. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine's serving in World War II. Surviving are his daughters, Donna Hoover and husband Frank of Hampstead, and Janet Gilbert of Red Lion, PA, grandchildren, Sandy, Eric, Julie, Kristin and Chris. He was also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and a lifelong companion, Bonnie Gibson. Funeral services and interment will be private.
