Anderson, Michael  
Michael Robert Anderson, 60, of Timonium, passed away Saturday July 4, 2015 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born July 2, 1955 in Baltimore, MD, he was the beautiful and beloved son of Evelyn A. (Kraft) Anderson and Gordon L. Anderson, Sr. of Hampstead. He had been a longtime employee of Zgorski Painting. He enjoyed playing hockey since his youth. He was an avid baseball and football fan and enjoyed boating. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his brother, Gordon L. Anderson, Jr. of Berlin; sister, Cheryl L. Anderson of Timonium; niece, Kiersten C. Riffert of Crofton. The family will receive friends Wednesday July 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. Memorial contributions may be sent to an animal rescue organization of your choice.

Bates, Joyce  
Joyce Aileen Bates, age 72, of Westminster MD., died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Carroll Hospice, Inc., Dove House in Westminster, Md. Born September 29, 1942, in rural Carroll County MD., she was the daughter of the late Martha and Walter Chenoweth. She was the loving wife of Thomas Edward Bates, for 38 years. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children Cindy Callahan and Wayne Ross; step-children Scott Bates, Seth Bates, and Jordanna Bates; her sisters Mary Hurd and Christina Grimes; along with several grandchildren and numerous family members and friends. Joyce was predeceased by siblings Martha Hart and Donald Chenoweth. Joyce enjoyed many activities, such as spending time outdoors/walking, knitting, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends. Joyce was employed as a dental assistant as her occupation; most recently she worked for 29 years at McDonough Dental Assoc. in Owings Mill, MD. Becraft, Martha E.  
Mrs. Martha E. Becraft, 71, of Mt. Airy passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at the Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster. She was the wife of the late William A. Becraft who passed on January 7, 2015, they were married 35 years. Born on February 19, 1944 in Cambridge, MD she was the daughter of the late James Sheperd and Elizabeth Schnoor Henry. Martha had a life long career as an LPN. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Linus Project where she enjoyed sewing, especially quilting for children in need. Martha was a giving soul to her community, her friends and family. Surviving are two brothers: James Martin Henry and Wade Hampton Henry, a sister, Priscilla Tolley; a special friend Bonnie Baust as well as several close dear friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Henry. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy where a memorial service will begin at 12:00 Noon with Rev Elsabeth Hilke officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Trinity UCC, 9501 Old Baltimore Rd, Frederick, MD 21704, or Project Linus, C/O Patches Quilting, 308 S. Main St., Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Bowman, Deborah  
Deborah Ann Bowman, 60, of Mt. Airy, MD, died suddenly Saturday, June 27, 2015 at her home. She was the daughter of Doris June Ward Bowman and the late Leland "Bubby" Calvin Bowman. Debbie was a 1973 graduate of Glenelg High School. She was employed at Chic Hair Salon and Hair Impressions both in Mt. Airy and currently was Director of Education at Beauty Scope. In addition to her mother, she is survived by brothers, Donald Bowman and wife, Jean, and Richard Bowman all of Woodbine, MD; four nephews, Christopher Bowman, Timothy Bowman, Matthew Bowman and Nicholas Bowman; one uncle, numerous aunts and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 1st at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Boulevard, Mt. Airy, MD. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2nd at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Methodist Church Cemetery. Dell, Bruce  
Bruce Anthony Dell, 66, of Westminster, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Dove House. Born Oct 2, 1948 in Baltimore, he was the son of Irene Linton Dell of Port Orange Fla. and the late Ottis Irvin Dell. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Niner Dell. He was the owner of Bruce A. Dell Contractor and was a well known Musician, leader and bass player of Purple Haze. Besides his wife and mother, he survived by a son, Matthew Dell of Westminster, a sister Karen Gaskins of Port Orange Fla., nieces Whitney Dell, Amanda Hart, Amy Kirkpatrick, Laura Rogers, Ann Weidner, a nephew Brian Dell, and great-niece Tabitha DeCoursey. Also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter Meagan Dell, a brother Alfred Dell and sister-in-law, Marilyn Reichert. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Fletcher Funeral and Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Rumbaugh of New Hope Fellowship Church, officiating. Dorsey, Shirley M.  
1943-2015 Shirley "Marie" Dorsey (Tyler), 71, of Westminster entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, peacefully in the loving arms of her family; as result of a courageous battle with Cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded in the loving company of family and friends that Marie touched in some way throughout her fruitful life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister and cherished friend. She was born September 30, 1943 to the late Thurman "Jake" and Florabelle (Snowden) Tyler in Mt. Airy, MD. She is survived by her five siblings, Patricia "Jack" Diggs, Tracy Tyler (Toni), Brenda Walker-Osuegbu (Dan), John E. Dorsey and Paul Smith (Ruth). Five Step-Siblings, Renee Maryland, Dana Turner, Kimberly Turner, Thomas Turner and Michelle Turner. Her six loving children Anthony "Tony" Oram, Darlene Dorsey, Brittany Johnson-Dorsey, Davon Dorsey, Marvin Dorsey and Diamond Dorsey; and very devoted adopted son, Tyrone Snowden. Her former husband, Herman Dorsey of Westminster, MD. Seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. A host of nieces,nephews and cousin. Devoted friends, Judith Hill, Carol Johnson and Edgar Young. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman "Junior" Tyler, brother-in-law Edward Diggs, step-mother, Minnie J. Tyler and cousin Peggy Hurt. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Frederick in 1961. Like her father, Marie was bitten by the entrepreneur bug, she formed her own cleaning business, H & M Cleaning in 1977. She also opened a restaurant called M.O.M.S in tribute her mother in 1995. In more recent years, being the outstanding cook that she was known to be, she begin offering event catering for weddings and other occasions. She employed many people over the years in her many ventures. Marie was always looking to give a "hand-up" to anyone she met who was in need work. She never met a stranger; she touched the lives of many people with her warm smile and generosity; and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Marie was active member of Strawbridge Church in New Windsor, MD. She always made herself available to serve in any capacity where she was needed from food preparation to greeter. She briefly was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star To celebrate her life, the family will receive visitors on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Calvary United Methodist Church 405 S. Main Street Mount Airy, MD 21771. The Viewing will be held at 10am, directly followed by the funeral service to start at 11am. Repass to follow, Interment private.

Etzler, Kathryn  
Kathryn Fogle Etzler, age 91, of Keymar, died Monday, June 29, 2015 at her home. Born July 3, 1923 in Union Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Dennis Oden and Susan Rebecca Warner Fogle. Twice married, she was wife of the late J. Edward Coshun, who died in 1979, and Gerry Stephen Etzler, with whom she celebrated 34 years of marriage this past Saturday. Mrs. Etzler attended Blue Ridge College. She was formerly employed as a branch manager of the Detour Bank. She was also a wedding caterer for many years and for the last 33 years, she and her husband shared their passion of antiques as owner/operators of Etzler Antiques. For many years she was active with the Keysville Lutheran Church. She was affiliated with the Westminster Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Also the Keysville Homemakers Club. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children, James Edward Coshun Jr. of Delray Beach, FL, Terry Lee Coshun of Biglerville, PA and Elizabeth "Libby" DallaTezza and husband, John of Keymar; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Betty Mae Waltz and husband Norman "Bob" of Frederick, and David Richard Fogle and wife Marie of Woodbine. She and her first husband were the loving parents of 28 foster children. devoted foster daughter, Mary Helen Adkins She was predeceased by siblings Margaret Elizabeth Fogle, Raymond Milton Fogle, Doris Fogle, Virginia Fogle, William Frank Fogle and Nina Lee Smith. A funeral service will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, on Friday at 11:00 am, with Michael Long officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Keysville. Ruth E. Grimes (nee Penn), age 102, of Baltimore, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Ridgeway Manor in Catonsville, MD. She was born September 18, 1912 in Mt. Airy, MD, the daughter of the late Curtis Penn and the late Emily Gosnell Penn. She was the wife of the late Albert R. Grimes. Surviving are children Ronald P. Grimes and Judith A. Grove, Jan  
Jan C. Grove, age 57 of Seminole, Florida died on June 5, 2015 after a 3 year long battle with COPD. He was born on January 19, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Barbara Mitchell Grove and Stefans Grove. Before residing in Florida, he had been a longtime resident of Hampstead, MD, Upperco, MD and Manchester, MD. He attended The Park School of Baltimore, and Hereford High School. Jan was a master carpenter and built many upscale stores, as well as designing and building his own homes, and doing custom work for individuals. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodcarving using exotic woods. He is survived by his daughter, Bethany Grove of Baltimore, his sons, Christiaan Grove of New Port Richey, Florida, and Terry Grove of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, his sister, Christine Giroux of Annapolis, Maryland. Other surviving relatives are siblings Chloe Chabas, of Pasadena, California, and Sarah Grove of Pretoria, South Africa, Christopher Grove of Pretoria, South Africa, stepmother Alison Grove also of Pretoria, South Africa, sister-in-law Gina Sessa, and grandson, Riley Grove of New Port Richey, Florida, and nephews Stefan and Emory Giroux of Annapolis. Funeral services were held by Sunset Point Funeral home in Clearwater, Florida. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Patapsco State Park on August 22, 2015.
