Acosta, Carmen  
Carmen "Mami Carmen" Acosta, 87, of Reisterstown, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Genesis Eldercare, Randallstown, MD. Born December 24, 1927 in Abancay, Peru, she was the daughter of the late Zoilo and Ines (Rios) Acosta. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Reisterstown. Mami Carmen enjoyed traveling and was very family oriented. Surviving are her son, Luis Miguel Osnayo of Towson, MD; daughter, Julia Osnayo of Toronto, Canada; granddaughter, Denise Tasayco of Baltimore, MD; 6 other grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 2, 2015, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 2901 Bloom Road, Finksburg, MD. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm at the Eline Funeral Home with Rev. Ebenezer Afful officiating. Interment will be private.

Allen, Marie D.  
Marie Dorothy Allen, 91, of Westminster, died May 3, 2015 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born February 3, 1924 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Kues and Daisy Roese Watts. She was the wife of the late Alvin E. Allen, who died May 10, 1996. Marie was a retired telephone operator for Baltimore City Government. She was an avid reader and loved crafting and crocheting. Surviving is daughter and son-in-law Alvina Marie and Jim Farrow of Westminster; son and daughter-in-law Alvin E. Allen, Jr. and Darlene Allen of Pocomoke City; brother George Kues of Ellicott City; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 7 pm at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Officiating will be Rev. Paul White. Private interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Arbitelle, Joseph R.  
Joseph R. Arbitelle, age 72, of Mt. Airy, MD, died Friday, May 1, 2015 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was born May 15, 1942 in Danbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Joseph C. Arbitelle and the late Virginia Burton Arbitelle. He was a self-employed truck driver. He enjoyed Stock Car Racing. He also served in the USMC from 1959-1970 as a Sergeant. He was the husband of Donna R. Arbitelle (nee Salvatore). He was the father of Roxanne Haynes of Tampa, FL and Lisa Doner of Beaumont, Texas; also surviving are a nephew Joseph Delucia of Danbury, Connecticut and several grandchildren. Baker, Harry A.  
Harry A. Baker, 87, of Reisterstown, passed away on April 26, 2015 at Carroll Hospital Center. He was born on October 17, 1927 in Rossville, MD to the late William and Amelie (nee Lequiff) Baker. He was married to the late Margaret B. Baker. Mr. Baker was a mechanic service manager. He was a member of the Glyndon Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus and a head usher with Sacred Heart Church. He also served in the US Army. He is survived by his daughter Catherine B. and her husband Darryl E. Whitcomb; son Michael T. and his wife Maureen S. (Susie) Baker; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD on Wednesday 3-5 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon on Thursday 10am. Blessing, Anna Shorb  
Anna Shorb Blessing, 92, formerly of Taneytown, Maryland died peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Brinton Woods Nursing Center in Sykesville. Born September 20, 1922 in Thurmont, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Rose Davis Grable. She was the wife of the late Bernard Shorb who died in 1979. Anna was a seamstress at both the Union Bridge Clothing Company and H.L. Hartz and Sons Clothiers in Union Bridge. She enjoyed attending church services, sewing, cooking, and collecting angel figurines. She attended the Christian Revival Center in Reisterstown and was formerly a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Frederick. Surviving are daughters, Bernus Buffington and Sandra McHenry, both of Emmitsburg; sons, Preston "Sonny" Shorb of Gettysburg, PA, and Rick Shorb and wife Barb of Union Bridge; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by son, James Boarts; sisters, Grace Fogle, Pauline Hubbard, and May Pryor; and brother, John Grable. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Ralph Green officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Christian Revival Center, 3553 Lawndale Road East, Reisterstown, MD, 21136.

Bradley, James  
On May 2, 2015, James Lee Bradley of Sykesville, beloved husband of Linda Somerlock Bradley, devoted father of Rachael Bradley Montgomery of Paeonian Springs, VA, and Rebecca Bradley Walter of Mt. Airy, MD, loving grandfather of Eleanor Waldschuetz and Garrett Walter, and dear brother of Linda Bradley Miller. Jim retired from teaching high school English and Journalism in Baltimore County after 35 years.He was chairman of the Carroll County Historic Preservation Commission and a member of the Thurmont Conservation & Sportsmans Club.He was an avid fisherman,outdoorsman,and civil war enthusiast,as well as an enthusiastic grandfather. The family will receive friends at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Close, James  
James H. Close, 83 of Estero,Florida,died November 23,2014 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers,Fla..Born May 23,1931 in Cumberland,Md. he was the son of the late Carl F. and Margaret E. Close.He was the husband of the late Ruth Franklin Close who died in 2003. James worked for Western Electric as a Machinist in Communications for many years until his retirement.James was enlisted in the Navy, he had been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Sykesville.He was an avid sports enthusiast and spent most of his retirement years in Florida playing golf and enjoying the warm weather. Survived by Brother Wayne Close of Bowie,Md.Brother in laws Luther Franklin of Hampstead,Russell Franklin of Littlestown,Pa.Sister in laws Edith Horrigan of Manchester and Genevieve Heymiller of Sykesville.Also Survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friend June Owens. Pre-deceased by 1 brother Max Close and 2 sisters Marion Smith and Ruth Neal. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday May 23rd,2015 at 11:00am at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel,6416 Sykesville Rd.,Sykesville.Inurnment following at Lake View Cemetery. Cochran, Elizabeth Blair  
Elizabeth Blair Cochran (101) died April 20, 2015 at the Fairhaven Community, Sykesville, MD. Mrs. Cochran had lived at Fairhaven for 27 years, the last five in the Health Center. She is survived, by her three children: Anne Sloan of Annapolis, MD; Frank Cochran of New Haven, CT; and Thomas Cochran of Newfoundland, NJ; by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and by numerous nephews, nieces and caregivers. Born in 1913 in Oak Park, IL, Mrs. Cochran graduated from Swarthmore College in 1935, the first woman in her family to attain a higher education degree. Following graduation she was employed for several years as a social worker and planner in Chicago's public housing programs reporting to public housing pioneer Elizabeth Wood. It was there that she met her future husband. She was a life-long advocate for low-income housing in sustainable mixed-income neighborhoods, working principally through the League of Women Voters chapters in the communities in which she lived. She and Frank Lee Cochran (1913 - 2009) were married in 1939 and lived in Illinois until 1964, when they moved to Bethesda, MD. A regular summer resident of the Pinewoods Association on Higgins Lake, Roscommon, MI, from 1952, in 1965 she induced Lee to purchase "Homefree", remove decaying additions she referred to as "excrescences" and build a new cottage; both have been occupied by the far-flung family each of the ensuing 50 summers. Elizabeth Cochran obtained a master's degree in education from Lake Forest College, served on the Swarthmore alumni council, and guided her children and grandchildren through adolescence and college. At Pinewoods she was widely known as "Aunt" Liz and appreciated for her skill as a listener to members of all ages. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Cochran will be held on Mother's Day, May 10, at 2:30 pm at the Fairhaven Chapel, 7200 3rd Ave., Sykesville, MD. Memorial gifts may be sent to Integrace (operators of Fairhaven) at 576 Johnsville Rd., Eldersburg, MD 21784, designating the Beall Scholarship Fund, or to the Higgins Lake Foundation, 207 Terrace Dr., Roscommon, MI 48653.

Donadio, Sheila  
On April 25th, Sheila Lorraine Donadio, age 49, devoted wife of Joseph Donadio, beloved mother of Cecilia Donadio and beloved stepmother of Jackson Donadio, passed away peacefully at the Dove House, Westminster, Maryland. Sheila loved music, her cats, her time serving our country in the Air Force and spending time with her family above all else. Her life was celebrated in a service at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Eldersburg, Maryland and a gathering was held at the American Legion in Sykesville afterward for family and friends to share loving memories of her spirit.

Duerr, Jeffrey  
Jeffrey Michael Duerr, 27 of Eldersburg, died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at home. Born December 3, 1987 in Columbia, he was the son of Thomas C. and Victoria Karbley Duerr of Sykesville. He was a graduate of Hannah Moore High School and had been a retail clerk with CVS in Eldersburg. He enjoyed baseball, movies, music, animals and attending concerts. Surviving in addition to his parents are brother Matthew Duerr of Sykesville, and aunts and uncles Theresa and Robert Maynard of Westminster, Carrie and Matthew Grayson of Airville, PA, Russel and Melody Karbley of Fallston, and David and Lori Karbley of Hurricane, WV, and many cousins. A memorial service may be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Organization for Autism Research, 2000 North 14th Street, Suite 240, Arlington, VA 22201.
