Ferretti-Szabo, Laura Maria  
Laura Maria Ferretti-Szabo, 53, of Manchester passed peacefully Tuesday April 26, 2016 at the Dove House in Westminster. Born July 29, 1962 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Antonietta Nicoletta Florio Ferretti of Manchester and the late Enrico Ferretti. She was the wife of Markus Sandor Szabo. She was a beloved daughter and sister, devoted wife and mother who loved to travel with her family and will be sorely missed. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter Monterra Noel Szabo of Manchester; her siblings Frank Ferretti of Sebring, FL, Tim Ferretti of Manchester, and Angela Canapp of Finksburg; and was predeceased by her son Noah Emmanuel Szabo. The family will receive friends 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester with a Requiem Mass celebrated 10 a.m., Monday at the St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester with Rev. Forbes, Charles  
Charles Sidney Forbes, Jr., 85, of Union Bridge, died on April 7 at Kline Hospice House. He was the son of Margaret M. Peckham and Charles Sidney Forbes. Charles was a Korean War veteran and recipient of two bronze stars. A graduate of George Washington University, he worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency for many years as a cartographer. He was a sports fanatic and a die-hard Redskins fan. He loved to sing. In addition to singing in church choirs, he was an avid barbershop singer for over forty years. Most recently he sang with the Old Line Statesmen chorus of Westminster and the Elderly Brothers quartet. Charles is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 44 years; sister, Meg Mendoza; brother, Doug Forbes; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Charles' life will be held at 3 PM on May 7 at Church of The Ascension, 23 N. Court St., Westminster, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of The Ascension or Hospice of Frederick County.

Freeman Sr., Calvin "Pop"  
Calvin "Pop" Leighton Freeman, Sr. 87 years old of Owings Mills, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at his home. Born December 28, 1928 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Leighton Calvin Freeman and Marie L. Wiles Freeman. He was the husband of the late Norma H. Canapp Freeman. He served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corp from June 1948 - June 1950 as well as U.S. Army from November 1950 - October 1952. He retired from the Baltimore City Fire Department in June of 1986. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Harry and Sue Freeman, Norma and Bill Bosley, Calvin Freeman Jr. and wife Cynthia, Michele and Dave Anthony and Jeff and Vivian Freeman, his brother Roland Freeman, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and spouse he was predeceased by his granddaughter Shannon Marie Bosley. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM Interment in Lorraine Park Cemetery.
