Schubert, Doris B.  
Doris B. Schubert, 87 of Sykesville, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Born September 29, 1927 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late James and Sylvia Novak. She was the wife of 67 years of Charles W. Schubert, Sr. She enjoyed camping, the beach, computer games, cross stitch and crochet. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Surviving in addition to her husband are children Chuck Schubert and wife Jeanne of Taneytown, Carol Naurot of Sykesville, Barbara Martin Zeiler and husband Stu of Sykesville; grandchildren Philip Schubert and wife Kathy of Sykesville, Steven Schubert and wife Stacey of Hanover, PA, Craig Schubert and wife Beth of Westminster, Terri Ridenour and husband Tim of Thurmont, Crissy McCormick and husband David of Sykesville, Daniel Martin of Sykesville, and Rachel Martin of Sykesville, and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons-in-law John Naurot and Paul Martin and brother James Novak. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.

Sharpless, Jill  
Jill Davette Sharpless, 54, of Hampstead, died on Tuesday January 13, 2015 at her home. Born November 9, 1960 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late David and Nola (Reel) Sharpless. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1984-1988, before going into the Naval Reserves and the Army National Guard. She worked for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services and attended Clearfield Bible Church, Westminster. She enjoyed spending time with her cat Angel. Surviving is a sister, Gwen Sharpless Snyder of Laurel; brother, David Swan Sharpless III and his wife Deborah E. of Joppa; nephews, David S. Sharpless IV and Cameron Q. Sharpless of Joppa, and Michael T. Snyder III of Brooklyn, NY . Memorial services will be held at Clearfield Bible Church, 1303 Old Westminster Pike, Westminster on Saturday January 24, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Interment private. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784; American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058; or Humane Society of Carroll County, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158.

Sheehan, Rita Ines  
Rita Ines Sheehan, 63 of Eldersburg, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at her home. Born March 25, 1951 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Dorothy Ferdinand Rivera. She was the wife of Edward R. Sheehan of Eldersburg. Rita's family life and career were underscored by tremendous giving. Rita was a day care mother, an associate at the local Walmart and a devoted volunteer within the community. Surviving in addition to her husband are son and daughter-in-law Mikey Sheehan and Melissa Smith of Westminster, daughter Chrissy Alban of Eldersburg, sisters and brother-in-law Arlene and Cyrus Hutchison of Locust, NC, and Mary Lou Bulger of Sykesville, and grandchildren Malachi and Alex Warner. The family will receive friends at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville on Wednesday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. Funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Rd., Eldersburg. Interment in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lung Cancer Alliance, 888 16th St. N.W., Suite 150, Washington, DC 20006.

Shindle, Mary Virginia  
Mary Virginia Shindle, age 74, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born March 16, 1940 in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frederick William Kloos, Jr. and Eunice Virginia (Ollinger) Kloos. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert Lee Shindle. Mary graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio in 1962. During college she met her future husband Bob. She began her career as a librarian with Cuyahoga County Public Library in Ohio and later retired in 2000 after over 20 years with the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library. Mary enjoyed singing and was active with the Carroll County Choral Society and the Senior Singers. She was the original secretary of the Choral Arts Society of Carroll County (Masterworks Chorale). In addition to her husband, surviving are son, Robert William Shindle of Westminster and fiancée Diane Macklin of Baltimore; sisters-in-law, Doris Kloos of Hermitage, PA, Evelyn Inmon of Frederick, and Dorothy Shindle of Westminster; brother-in-law, W. Richard Shindle of Westminster; cousin, Nancy Lynn Theiss of Mercer, PA; nephew, Randall Inmon of Frederick; and niece, Cathy Lee Inman of Frederick. She was predeceased by a brother, Frederick W. Kloos, III. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster with the Rev. Charles O. Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in the Westminster Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Showalter, Lola J.  
Lola J. Showalter, 87, of Everett, Pennsylvania; passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Pennknoll Village. She was born on November 24, 1927 in Dublin, Virginia; a daughter of the late Richard and Alma Jane (Turman) Handy. On March 31, 1946 in the First Christian Church, Everett; she married David A. Showalter. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2008; they celebrated sixty-two years of marriage. She is survived by the following family: Children: Mary Jane married to Garry Black, Everett, PA; David E. Showalter married to Sally M. (Marker), Debary, FL; Virginia Kay married to William Zile, West Minister, MD Tammie married to David Dicken, Everett, PA; Daughter in-law: Susan Showalter, Granetville, SC; One Brother: LeRoy Handy.Twelve Grandchildren Twenty-Four Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by a son: Richard Showalter, infant son: Elmer Terrence Showalter and siblings: Richard Showalter, Lena Newman, Richard "Frank" Handy, Jim Handy and Jack Handy. Mrs. Showalter was a member of the First Christian Church, Everett. Lola was employed at Lions Manufacturing, Everett and later working as a machinist at Black & Decker, Maryland. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lola loved to attend bible study. Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 4-8 and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Burial will be held at privately at the Bedford County Memorial Park. If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Showalter to American Cancer Society. Slobinsky Jr., Louis J.  
Louis J. Slobinsky, Jr., age 83, of Orangeville, PA, died on Monday evening, January 12, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with old age. Louis was born on Sunday, May 10, 1931 in South Fork, PA, a son of the late Louis J. and Stella (Sobel) Slobinsky, Sr. Throughout his younger years, Louis attended and later graduated from the South Fork-Croyle High School in 1950. Louis expanded his education by attending Saint Francis College in Loretto, PA where he graduated with a BS Degree in Education. Following his college education, Louis enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 where he served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his time of service, Louis served aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge and the U.S.S. Oriskany in the Taiwan Formosa Strait. After serving a second enlistment in the United States Marine Corp, Louis received an honorable discharge. He was employed by the Baltimore County School District for over 20 years as a 5th Grade School Teacher in Owings Mills Elementary School. After the death of his first wife, Shirley, Louis moved to the Bloomsburg area to be near his grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Parish, a 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus, the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post # 273 and the VFW Ft. McClure Post # 804 in Bloomsburg. In addition to his parents, Louis was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley F. (Fisher) Slobinsky on December 12, 1992. Survivors include his beloved wife of 16 years, Mary E. (Shandis) Slobinsky, having been married on May 30, 1998; two daughters: Tina M. Schultz and husband, Stephen, of Bloomsburg; Jeane Hayman and husband, Jeff, of Reedville, VA; a step-daughter: Peggy Schnerr and husband, Buddy, of Bloomsburg; and a step-son: Rick E. Dietrich and wife, Alyssa, of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Virginia Dunmire of Florida; Stella Sauter of Parma, OH; and Yvonne Schwartzentruber and husband, Jay, of Ebensburg, PA. At the request of family, interment will be held privately at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pennsylvania.
