August W. Glass

August Ward Glass, 55, of New Windsor, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at home.

Born March 31, 1958, in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of the Rev. Wesley Glass and the late Gaylene Emily Brown Glass.

He was a professional land surveyor with Fisher, Collins and Carter in Ellicott City. He had served for 12 years in the Maryland National Guard.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 116 and the Legion Riders. He was the former director and life member of ABATE. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, St. John's Chapter in Hampstead.

Surviving, in addition to his father, are life partner Terri Fabula, of New Windsor; her sons J.D. and Sam Shipley, and Ray Hurt; brothers Bryan Neal Glass, of Boonsboro, and Edward Daniel Glass, of Taneytown; and many friends.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and from 6 p.m. until the time of service, 7 p.m. Saturday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Legion Post No. 116, attn: Maurice Morton, 1090 Westminster Pike, Reisterstown, MD 21136, to be used for a memorial.
