Dennis Monroe Rill, 68, of Westminster, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.
Born Sept. 1, 1944, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Clarence Philip and Helen Pearl Bowman Rill. He was the husband of Luray Rill, his wife of five years.
He served in the Army
from 1962 until 1964. He worked for and retired after 40 years in management from Black & Decker. While working at Black & Decker, he started selling flowers and produce in Hampstead until he opened Flowers by Wanda and later Manchester Florist. He also sold produce at Meadows Farms.
He was a member and past governor of the Westminster Moose Lodge No. 1381, member of Littlestown Eagles Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 2226, Westminster Elks Lodge
No. 2277, Hampstead American Legion Post No. 200, and the Hampstead Coon Club. He enjoyed gardening, maintaining his yard and bingo.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are former wife, Wanda Dixon, of Westminster; daughter Melissa Glorioso and fiancé John Hulsey, of Hampstead; son Dennis Bryan Rill and spouse Bernice, of Manchester; siblings Dorothy Virginia Wilhelm, of Hampstead, and friend Earl Seipp, of Westminster, Edward Eugene Rill and spouse Joy, all of Hampstead, Nora Lee Arentz and companion Gary Kesselring, and Roger Kenneth Rill and spouse Bertha, all of Hanover, Pa., and Joyce Ann Murray and spouse William, of Manchester; grandchildren Brandon Glorioso, Brett Wise, and Emily Samuels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Clarence Leonard Rill and Robert Clinton Rill.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Larry Shipley officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Methodist Church Cemetery in Hampstead.
