Edward Bridges Kraft, 81, of Sykesville, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.
Born Aug. 4, 1932, in Myersville, he was the son of the late Rev. Henry C. Kraft and Helen Miller Kraft. He was the husband of Janet Hocheder Kraft, his wife of 54 years.
He was a veteran of the Air Force, having served in Korea. He was a field engineer with National Cash Register for many years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Cheryl Kraft Jackowski and husband Charles "Chuck" Jackowski Jr., of Sykesville, and Denise Kraft Casey and husband Alan Michael Casey Jr., of Franklinville, N.J.; brother Paul Luther Kraft and wife Nancy, of Arbutus; sister-in-law Dorothy Kraft, of Bel Air; grandchildren Ashley M., Kaitlin N. and Nicholas C. Jackowski, and Jordan M. and Sydney E. Casey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Henry C. Kraft Jr.; a sister, Marian Whitaker; and a brother-in-law, Mike Whitaker.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, where the Palestine Lodge No. 189 will hold a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m Friday.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 833 Deer Park Road, Westminster. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice's Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; or to the Boumi Shriners Transportation Fund, 5050 King Ave., Baltimore, MD 21237.

Had the pleasure of working with Ed at Turf Valley on my first day on the job and many times again. A truly special individual who never let cancer get to his positive spirits. My prayers are with the family.

So sorry for your loss Mrs. Kraft. I use to baby sit for your daughter when you lived on Ransome Drive. My mom, Ruth Sutor told me about Mr. Kraft-(she saw it in the paper). I always remember Mr. kraft would sometime bring me home a soft crab sandwich from where ever you went on the weekday night when I babysat. Take care. Susan (Sutor) Shaw

I am so sorry to read this obituary. Mr Kraft was such a nice, wonderful and caring person. I have great memories of him and his family while I was in Job's Daughter's with Cheryl and Denise. My heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow. Since I lost my husband this past year, I sincerely do know what you are going through and want to just express my sincere condolences to the whole Kraft Family. Ed you truly were one of the nioest people that I ever had the pleasure of meeting and knowing.
