George S. Harman



George Steele Harman, 85, of Union Bridge, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at home.

Born Dec. 13, 1927, in Union Bridge, he was the son of the late Roland Edward and Viola Steele Harman. He was the husband of Ella Fay Nusbaum Harman, his wife of 65 years.

He served in the Army. He was employed for 25 years as a diesel mechanic with Mitchell Transport of Union Bridge. He was a member of VFW Post No. 8806 in Union Bridge, and enjoyed boating, woodworking, playing cards and gardening. He was a caregiver to his wife, who has Alzheimer's disease.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Cheryl Rohrbaugh and husband James, of Spring Grove, Pa., and Helena Harman, of Denver, Colo.; son George E. Harman and wife Diane, of Frederick; grandchildren Paul N., Joshua J. and Carolyn F. Rohrbaugh, and Amelia G. and Ethan S. Harman; and sisters Rosella H. Wiles and LaRue H. Wetherald, both of Frederick.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Tina R. Harman; and a brother, Roland M. Harman.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 p.m. until the time of service, 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, with the Rev. Ralph Eib, of Christ's American Baptist Church in Spring Grove, officiating.
