Iras Elizabeth McComas, 95, of Westminster, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Westminster.
Born Oct. 9, 1918, in Baltimore County, she was the daughter of the late Annie Sprowl Jackson and Claude Jackson. She was the wife of the late Lewis Weldon "Buck" McComas Sr., her husband of more than 60 years.
Before retiring, she worked as a seamstress for Union Bridge Clothing and Westminster Knit. She also farmed with her husband and helped with the LW McComas and Sons Auto Parts store.
Additionally, she liked to travel, and she visited almost every state in the country. She was an avid crafter, and she especially enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Lewis W. McComas Jr. and wife Peg, of Shady Valley, Tenn., and Bruce W. McComas and wife Barbara, of Westminster; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by a son, John W. "Jack" McComas, who died Feb. 14, 1962.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Gautcher officiating. Interment will be in Deer Park Cemetery in Reisterstown.
