Lester "George" "Squirrelee" Evans, 84, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born Sept. 1, 1929, in Patapsco, he was the son of the late Blanche Spencer Evans and David Evans. He was the husband of Patsy J. Evans, who he married June 21, 1958.
He served in the Army
during the Korean Conflict
and before retiring he was a laborer for Congoleum.
He was a member of the Hampstead American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and was a mall walker.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law George "Michael" and Karen Evans, of Westminster; brother and sister-in-law Howard and Eleanor Evans, of Finksburg; and grandchildren Josh Evans and wife Anna, and Jenifer Evans, all of Westminster.
He was predeceased by brothers Earl, Eugene and Charles Evans.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Clementson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
