Mary E. Reed

Mary Evelyn Reed, 79, of Catonsville, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Saint Agnes Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1933, in Rochester, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Mary Evelyn Doris Connelly. She was the wife of Col. (Ret.) Gerald F. Reed.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a registered nurse who attended Mercy High School and Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons Dr. John P. Reed, of Hagerstown, and Gerald F. Reed Jr. and fiancee Adrienne Kelley, of Granite; daughters and sons-in-law Maura E. and Nicholas Morson, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Sheila M. and Richard Magin, of Mount Airy; a sister, Sr. Mary Edward Connelly; grandchildren, Conor and Kathleen Reed, Connelly, Patrick and Matthew Magin, and Lindsay Carroll.

She is predeceased by sisters Doris Connelly and Joanne O'Brien.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Angels, Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville. Family will receive visitors before Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
