Amel Gonzalez

Amel Gonzalez, 50, of Taneytown, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born July 17, 1959, in Cuba, he was the son of Clicel Alvarez, of Cuba, and the late Andre Gonzalez. He was the husband of Lisa A. Nichols Gonzalez, his wife of 20 years. He enjoyed having coffee in his sugar, and spending time with family and friends. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Zunilda and William Gonzalez, both of Randallstown, Stephanie Gonzalez, of Glen Burnie, and Derek and Kayta Gonzalez, both of Taneytown; a brother, Ruben Gonzalez, of Florida; six siblings in Cuba; and seven grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 p.m. until the time of Mass, 8 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, with Monsignor Martin E. Field officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the family, c/o Gonzalez Memorial, 144 Carnival Drive, Taneytown, MD 21787, to help with expenses.
