Anita Marie Haines Wantz, 77, of Pleasant Valley, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at home.

Born Dec. 5, 1935, in Medford, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Mildred L. Ranoull Haines. She was the wife of Feeser William Wantz, her husband of 55 years, who died Oct. 13, 2009.

She worked a few years for the Westminster Knit Company, until she married her husband and started a family after, which she became a lifelong homemaker.

She was a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Pleasant Valley. She enjoyed being with her family and pinch-babysitting for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping and fishing trips with family at Assateague Island.

Surviving are children and spouses William F. and Debbie F. Wantz, Deborah M. and Michael R. Stewart, Leander C. Wantz II and wife Debbie Ann, and Karl L. and Cindy D. Wantz, all of Westminster, Annie W. and Ronald J. Stewart, of Emmitsburg, and Teresa L. Kroft, of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Michael W. Wantz, Joanna L. Gardner and husband Fernando, Joshua F. Stewart and wife Lauren, Gregory M. Stewart and wife Heather, Russell L. and Jason F. Wantz, Clarice L. Stough and husband Travis, Matthew D. Kroft, Courtney L., Krystal D., Kenneth K. and Cassidy A. Wantz; great-grandchildren Owen M. and Emma G. Stewart; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Haines.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of memorial service, 7 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Dale Krotee, of St. Matthews United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be private.
