Carl H. Rauschenberg Sr., 98, of Woodbine, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, in Woodbine.

He was born July 28, 1913. He was the husband of the late Catherine E. Rauschenberg.
He was a retired Baltimore County police officer and a veteran of the Merchant Marines. After a 22-year career with the Baltimore County Police force, he went to full-time farming in Woodbine. He raised every kind of livestock including swine, sheep, chickens, cattle, goats and horses; as well as numerous types of crops. His farm is registered in the Maryland Land Conservation Program. His animals have been shown at numerous county and state fairs.
Surviving are sons Carl H. Rauschenberg Jr., of Swansboro, N.C., and Frank M. Rauschenberg, of Emmitsburg; a daughter, Mary E. Rauschenberg, of Ridgefield, Conn.; grandchildren Laura Rauschenberg Langhage, Jennifer, Alicia, Kurt, Justin, and Bridget Rauschenberg, Heather McCready, Caitlin Brooks, and Austin and Megan Gold; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the family cemetery "Borrowed Acres" at 6951 John Pickett Road, Woodbine.
