Charles Lee Hardesty, 82, of Hampstead, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at home.
Born July 17, 1930, in Hampstead, he was the son of the late George and M. Agnes Burdette Hardesty. He was the husband of the late Ruth Louise Belt Hardesty, his wife of 45 years.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954 and was a member of the Westminster Elks Lodge
No. 2277. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lebanon Lodge in Manchester, where he had been Chapter Council Commander, and a 50-year member of the Boumi Temple Shrine, where he was honored as a member of the "One Hundred Club."
He was a member of Western MD Shrine Club, past president and secretary of Carroll Scottish Rite Club, Scottish Rite of Baltimore, Hampstead American Legion and the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed working in his yard and doing landscaping, and was known to have a green thumb.
Surviving are a son, Steven M. Hardesty, of Hampstead; grandsons Grant, Logan, Brice and Mason Hardesty; and a sister, B. Jean Lambach.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Cemetery in Arcadia with the Rev. Matthew Schenning officiating.
