Charles R. Gist

Charles R. Gist 85, of Westminster Charles Richard Gist, 85, of Westminster, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center. Born Jan. 11, 1926, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Josephine Rickell Gist. He was the husband of Joann Brothers Gist, his wife of 63 years. He was the co-owner of Gist Brothers Concrete Contractors with his brother for more than forty years. He attended Clearfield Bible Church and Calvary Bible Church. He enjoyed antique cars, working in his yard and garden, and listening to Christian music. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children L. Richard Gist and wife Pat, of Finksburg, Jeffrey Charles Gist, of Westminster and Keli Gist Houle and husband Brent, of Finksburg; siblings Lillian Muller and Peggy Gist, both of Westminster; grandchildren Adam Gist and wife Kelly, Jeanne Zamudio, Jeffrey Lash and wife Shannon, and Avery, Lydia, Audrey, Charlotte and Abbott Houle, great-grandchildren; Cody, Brandon and Hayden Gist and James, Daniel and Aiden Lash; 15 nieces; and 26 nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Elizabeth, Edward, Paul, Ronald and Sonny Gist. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, chapel entrance. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Butler officiating. Internment will be in Deer Park Cemetery in Smallwood.
