David Leroy "Dave" Linton Sr., 74, of Woodbine, died Sunday morning, June 9, 2013, after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 15, 1938, in Sykesville, he was the only son of the late Tresa Linton Bower Boehl.
He was creative, mechanically and musically inclined. For the past eight months he enjoyed Thursday nights playing piano with a group known as "Just for Fun Band." He had a passion for cars and enjoyed car shows. In the past he had raced cars, flown a plane and hosted skydiving. He was a past member of Winfield volunteer fire company.
He enjoyed his farm and over the years raised many animals, including deer, cattle, bunnies, a horse, a possum and a mule. He provided a gathering place and pavilion for friends, in the area known as the "Falls." Trips to Utah were a favorite getaway. He liked spending time with his dogs, Bubba, Lady Bug and Annie.
He worked as a self-employed utility contractor, helping out friends and neighbors with his backhoe. His fee was to be paid in homemade pies, and peach was his favorite. More recently he was employed by Edrich Lumber Company in Randallstown.
Surviving are a daughter, Charlotte Ann Linton, of Woodbine; a son, David Leroy "Woody" Linton Jr., of Utah; a niece, Janet Busic; a friend, Danny Forrest; and numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Vicki Linton; grandparents Ernest Linton and Crella Gates Linton; and a former wife, Nancy Smith Linton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday; and from 2 to 4 and 7 p.m. until the time of service, 8 p.m. Wednesday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.
