Ernest W. Bennett, 81, of Manchester, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at home.

Born April 24,1931, in Gillesville, Ga., he was the son of the late Gilford and Arvie Greenway Bennett. He was the husband of Dolores Bell Reese Bennett, his wife of 56 years.

He was retired from Union Special Corp., where he worked in sales and mechanical work. He was a former Mason. He also was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 168. He enjoyed working around his home.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Cynthia Ellen Myatt and husband Clayton K. Jr., of Manchester, and Carolyn Bennett Fogle and husband Robert R., of Thurmont; and grandchildren Clayton K. Myatt III and Alexander Bennett Myatt.

He was predeceased by a son, Wayne Roger Bennett; and 10 siblings.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice Inc., 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
