Fred William Lauterbach, 73, of Westminster, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center.
Born April 6, 1940, in Reisterstown, he was the son of the late Beatrice Shipley Lauterbach and William Asha Lauterbach. He was the husband of Darlene Stoffle Lauterbach, his wife of 48½ years.
He served in the Army
. Before retiring he was employed as a shop foreman for the State Highway Administration. He also had a lawn mower service. He was a member of Door to Virtue Masonic Lodge No. 46 A.F. & A.M., Bee Hive Club and Daylight Lodge. He was a member and past secretary of the Western Maryland Shrine Club, and of the Boring Volunteer Fire Company.
He enjoyed model trains, planes and helicopters, and collected model farm tractors and machinery.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law Dale and Bobbi Lauterbach, of Westminster; a granddaughter, Morgan Lauterbach; a brother, John B. Lauterbach, of Winchester, Va.; and a sister, Leuvene Merryman, of Upperco.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday; a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Harden, of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Hampstead Cemetery.
