Garnette LeAnna Grimes, 84, of New Oxford, Pa., formerly of Taneytown, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born on Sept. 27, 1928, in Adams County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John W. Reever and Anna Margaret (Gordon) Reever.
She graduated from Emmitsburg High School in 1945. She enjoyed singing and performing in school operettas and later singing in church choirs and the Community Chorus in Taneytown. She also enjoyed whistling.
She volunteered at Carroll County Food Sunday and St. Catherine's Nursing Center. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, the Fun Bunch of the church.
Surviving are son Duane V. Wiles, of Spring Grove, Pa.; siblings Alma Bair, of New Oxford, Pa.; and J. Wilbur Reever, of New Midway; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her first husband Earl R. Wiles; her second husband Sheridan L. Grimes; daughter Christine E. Crum; siblings Cletus N. and Glenn O. Reever; Gladys C. Nusbaum and Beatrice Waybright.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown. The Rev. Josh Semovoski will be officiating.
Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
