Helen Belle Bear, 98, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.
Born Sept. 13, 1914, in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Dennie Belle Scheller Forney. She was the wife of Monroe W. Bear, who died in 1967.
She formerly worked in the cafeteria at William Winchester School and was a member of Westminster Church of the Brethren. Her favorite hobby was baking.
Surviving are children Barbara and husband Houston G. Curd Jr., of Bonita Springs, Fla., Alan "Babe" and wife Doris Bear, of Westminster, and Treasa Gross and husband William, of New Windsor; a sister, Hallie Creager, of Westminster; grandchildren Houston Curd III, Brent Curd and Patricia Zwaska; and great-grandchildren Nathaniel Curd, Hannah Curd, Alexandra Curd, Melissa Zwaska and Eric Zwaska.
She was predeceased by siblings Zelma Koontz, Eva Dudderar, Claude, Benton, Merton, Walter, Emory and Frank Forney; and a great-granddaughter, Megan Curd.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster; and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Saturday at Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster. Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
