Ida Dorothy Barnard, 83, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center.
Born June 20, 1929, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Ida D. Abbey Dawson.
She was a registered nurse and worked for the Baltimore County Department of Health. She enjoyed creative writing for the Village publications and she sang with the Village Singers.
Surviving are children Dorothy "Dottie" Hall and husband Denny, of Perry Hall, Robert Guy Barnard, of Virginia, and James W. Barnard, of Florida; siblings Nina Dennison and husband Walt of Berlin, Md., John "Jack" Dawson Jr. and wife Marlene, and Walter J. Dawson, all of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4a nd 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster; and from noon until the time of service, 1 p.m. Saturday at Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with the Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow in Cokesbury Methodist Church Cemetery in Abingdon.
