Leon Franklin Hale Sr., 81, of Littlestown, Pa., died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace in Hanover, Pa.
Born Nov. 7, 1932, in Upperco, he was the son of the late Joshua Mitchell Hale and Elsie Elizabeth Spicer. He was the husband of Ruth E. Hale, his wife of 57 years.
Before retiring he was employed at Telemecanique, Gould and Rowan Controller. He served in the Army
during the Korean Conflict
. He enjoyed yard sales and working on tractors.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Leon Hale Jr. and fiancee Tara Brookins, of Sykesville, and Robert Lee Hale Sr. and wife Kimberly, of Littlestown, Pa.; daughters Nancy Lynn Dorsey and husband John, of Tyaskin, and Tina Nusbaum and husband Norman Long III, of Spring Grove, Pa.; brothers and sisters-in-law Marvin and Betty Hale, and Joshua E. and Betty Lou Hale, all of Hampstead, Roland Hale, of Upperco, and John and Darlene Hale, of Manchester; sisters Ester and husband Donald Hale, of Upperco, and Irene Krebs, of Hampstead; grandchildren Kayla and Kara Lycliter, Chance Benjamin Leon Hale, Robert Lee Hale Jr., Danielle Billings and husband C.J., Amber Dorsey, Douglas Starry, Nicholas Lamdin, and Daniel and Matthew Nusbaum; great-grandchildren Hayden, Ava and Ryan; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Jeanette Millender, Sidney Hale, Charles Hale, Leroy Hale and Carrie Wagner.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
