Phillip Pasquale Cassara, 85, of Westminster, formerly of Taneytown, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born Jan. 14, 1928, in Bethlehem, Pa., he was the son of the late Pasquale and Carrie Shelner Cassara. He was the husband of Marilyn Lance Cassara, his wife of more than 40 years.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at M.I.T. and worked at Goddard Space Center. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Scott Cassara, of Keller, Texas; daughters Karen Luna, of South Riding, Va., Mindy Scott, of Aldie, Va., Nancy Somers, of Olney, and Amy Trost, of Mukilteo, Wash.; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 W. Frederick St, Taneytown, with Monsignor Martin E. Feild as celebrant. Private interment will be held at a later date.
