Roland Lester Blum, 78, of Taneytown, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
Born July 1, 1934, in Patapsco, he was the son of the late Irvin and Lillian Stimax Blum. He was the husband of Mary Plaine Blum, his wife of 40 years.
He was a farmer and an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. He enjoyed life on the farm.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Deborah LaGrave, of Roanoke, Va.; son Charles Blum and wife Nancy, of Finksburg; a step-daughter, Julie Ann Robertson, of Walkersville; grandsons Derek Parthree and Robert Blum; step-grandsons Matthew Wetzel and Joshua Inscoe; a great-granddaughter, Kaiya Parthree; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Louise Wirts and Eva Freyman; brothers Raymond and Edward Blum; and a step-grandson, Travis Wetzel.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of memorial service, 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with the Rev. Craig Arentz officiating. Burial will be private.
