Harold Stonesifer Bollinger Sr., 97, of Woodsboro, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick.

Born July 5, 1916, in the Emmitsburg, Md. area, he was the oldest of 12 children of the late Allen Edward and Emma Louisa Stonesifer Bollinger. He was the husband of the late Margaret Ellen Colson Bollinger.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Rocky Ridge. He was formerly employed as a farmer and a truck driver. He worked as a carpenter for several companies in the Taneytown, Baltimore and Hagerstown areas. He also worked as a maintenance man for Parkview Apartments in Frederick. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 101, and a former member of the Rocky Ridge fire company.

Surviving are children Nancy Dunaway and husband Bennie Joe, of New Brockton, Ala., Harold S. Bollinger Jr. and wife Anita, of Thurmont, and Randy J. Bollinger and wife Eva Jean, of Woodsboro; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters Mildred Dennis Wallick, of Hanover, Pa., Gladys Bell, of Taneytown, and Lucy Eyler, of Alabama; brothers Paul Bollinger, of Baltimore, Allen Bollinger, of Illinois, Ivan Bollinger, of Gettysburg, Pa., Joseph Bollinger, of North Carolina, Roy Bollinger, of Pennsylvania, and Arvin Bollinger, of Taneytown.

He was predeceased by son John L. Bollinger; a brother, William Robert Bollinger and a sister, Doris Ellen Rock.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Linda Lambert, of Thurmont Church of the Brethren, officiating. Interment will follow in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery in Emmitsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, c/o Lois Late, 507 Gateway Drive West, Thurmont, MD 21788.
