Clarence R. Souders, 87, of Gamber, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.
Born Jan. 2, 1927, in Big Pool, he was the son of the late Ira Roy Souders and Anna Elizabeth Mills Souders. He was the husband of Doris M. Musgrove Souders.
He was retired from Carroll County Government where he had worked as a dispatcher chief from 1963 to 1991. He served in the Air Force and was a charter member of the Gamber & Community fire company.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Patricia Ann Lindsay and companion David Lawson, of Freeland, and Sharon Souders Krause and husband Ken Krause, of Sandown, N.H.; a granddaughter, Samantha Marie Krause, of Sandown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Clarence Wayne Souders, who died in 2004.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. by the Gamber & Community fire company.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Bethesda Cemetery in Sykesville.
