Mary Louise "Lou" Cookson, 94, formerly of Westminster, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover, Pa.

Born July 3, 1919, in Grove City, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Isabelle Abernathy Adams and Thomas Adams. She was the wife of Wayne L. Cookson, who died March 16, 2001.

Prior to her retirement, she was a flower designer at Dutterer's Florist in Westminster after having spent many years as a homemaker.

A longtime member of the Westminster United Methodist Church, she was active in the United Methodist Women, the Reach Committee and the Soup Kitchen. She was also a member of the Easter Star in Grove City, Pa.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Patricia L. and Lester C. Martin, of Hanover, Pa., and Barbara C. and Craig S. Wagner, of Fairfax Station, Va.; grandchildren Adam W. Martin and wife Courtney, of Spring Grove, Pa., Thomas J. (T.J.) Martin, of Hanover, Pa., Lindsey A. Wagner, of Arlington, Va., and Matthew S. Wagner, of Falls Church, Va.; and a great-granddaughter, Payton L. Martin.

She was predeceased by a brother, Waide T. Adams; and a grandson, Lance C. Martin.

Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the time of service, 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. Shari McCourt officiating. Interment will follow in the Westminster Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Homewood at Plum Creek "Benevolent Fund," 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, PA 17331; or to the Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E. Main St., Westminster, MD 21157.
