Elinor Jean Dollenger, 95, of Westminster, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at North Pines Assisted Living in Manchester.
Born Jan. 20, 1919, in Collinsville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late John T. and Barbara C. Sapp Cullom. She was the wife of Louis Adam Dollenger Jr., her husband of 57 years who died Sept. 18, 2004.
She was a registered nurse, having worked for Western Maryland College, Carroll County General Hospital and other hospitals. She was a captain in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II
, serving in England and France.
She was a member of Grace Fellowship Chapel and of the Army Nurse Corps Association. She was proud to serve her country and especially enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.
Surviving are a son, Louis Adam Dollenger III, of Reisterstown; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara Lynn and Reid B. Sprague, of Solomons, and Robin Cullom and Dr. Peter G. Uggowitzer, of Hampstead; a brother, Glen M. Cullom, of Mount Olive, Ill.; grandchildren Sara Beth Smith, Shawn Adam Sprague, Derek Adam Dollenger, Kevin Adam and Zachary Cullom Uggowitzer; great-grandchildren Annabel and Nate Smith; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings Maudethel Cullom, John T. Cullom Jr. and Lt. Col. Barbara M. Cullom; and a grandson, Daniel Stephen Uggowitzer.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service, 12:30 p.m. Friday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Ralf Nies, of Grace Fellowship Chapel, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
