Donald Merritt Logue, 64, of Union Bridge, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House, following an illness of one year.

Born Jan. 2, 1950, in Frederick, he was the son of Joan Bloom Logue, of Union Bridge, and William T. Logue, who died Feb. 9, 2014.

He was the husband of Kay Groft Logue, his wife of 22 years.

He was a 1967 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School and then attended St. Mary's College in St. Mary's County for two years. He served in the Coast Guard from 1970 until 1974. He was employed as a chef for 21 years and a bartender for more than 18 years in various restaurants.

He was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 8806 in Union Bridge; the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2226 in Littlestown, Pa.; and the Hesson-Snider American Legion Post No. 120 in Taneytown.

He enjoyed golfing with his friends, watching Ravens football, Orioles baseball and University of Maryland Terps basketball.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Jessica Gruss and husband Thad, of Hampstead, Donald M. Logue Jr, of Union Bridge, Marianne Nipper, of Gettysburg, Pa., George Nipper, of Westminster, Crystal Hutchins and husband Jeff, of Sykesville, Pam Boswell, of Gettysburg, Pa., Jody Burkins, of Union Bridge, and Scott Miller and wife Michelle, of McSherrystown, Pa.; and numerous grandchildren.

There will be no visitation or service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to V.F.W. Post 8806, P.O. Box 55, Union Bridge, MD 21791.
