Herman E. Grimsley, 72, of Hanover, Pa., died Monday, April 14, 2014, at Hanover Hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1941, in Pinetops, N.C., he was the son of the late Johnny and Fannie Ellis Grimsley. He was the husband of Joan L. Snyder Grimsley, of Hanover.
He was a 1960 graduate of Littlestown High School and served in the Army
National Guard for 10 years. He worked at the Taneytown Grain and Supply, Southern States and retired from the Carroll County Schools in the maintenance department and plant operations.
He was known to be a family man and was hard working; and he enjoyed his rose garden.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Veronica Groft and husband Cory, of Littlestown, Pa., and Sabina Hege, of Lewisville, N.C.; grandchildren Shanna Groft, Jessica Young, Tanya Smith, Amir Sadri and Zackary Hege; great-grandchildren Alexander Groft, Shyenne Young, Nathaniel Wagaman, Lillian Smith and Donovan Smith; brothers Raymond Grimsley, of Sykesville, and Jimmy Grimsley, of Gettysburg, Pa.; and sisters Nolah Bowers and Velma Moore, both of Westminster, and Ruth Ann Bartholow, of Gamber.
He was predeceased by a sister, Sadie Miller.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Little's Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown, Pa.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Malcolm B. Workman, chaplain of Environmentally Safe Products, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hanover.
