Joan Geraldine Smith, 77 of Eldersburg, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at home.

Born July 30, 1936, in Connellsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Freida Burger O'Donovan. She was the wife of Paul Joseph Smith, who died in 2010.

She had been a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed puzzle books and Yahtzee.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Joseph Smith, Vincent and Dottie Smith, Ronald and Vicki Smith, and Robert Smith, all of Eldersburg; a daughter, Sharon Beyer, of Wilmington, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by daughters Carol and Brenda Smith.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
