Silas William Horton Jr., 31, of Taneytown, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, as the result of a heart condition that he had since his teen years.
Born June 12, 1982, in Westminster, he was the son of Silas W. Horton Sr. and wife Debra, and Rhonda Sondericker and husband Bert, of Taneytown.
He worked in construction and was the owner of Modern Home Services in Taneytown. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 2226 in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed working out at the gym, shooting pool, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed working on his Chevy pickup.
He especially enjoyed life, and his life philosophy was "You should try everything at least once."
Surviving, in addition to his parents and step-parents, are a step-brother, Devin, of Westminster; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and friend Lainey Anderson, and her parents, Doug and Laurie Anderson, all of Westminster.
He was predeceased by maternal grandparents Clyde and Lacy Willis; and paternal grandparents, Silas Horton and Alice Louise Whitacre.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown; and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Laurie Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Baust Church Cemetery in Tyrone.
