Carl William Soine, 89, of Westminster, died Sunday evening, June 22, 2014, at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Born Aug. 25, 1924, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Anna Harviene Myers and Carl August Theodore Soine. He was the husband of Jane Shore Soine, his wife of 63 years.

He served in the Army during World War II. Before retiring he was employed as an advertising manager.

He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, the Carroll Carvers and the North South Skirmish Association, where he served as chaplain and member for 50 years. He also volunteered for Carroll County Food Sunday, and enjoyed wood carving and target shooting.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and son-in-law Louise Soine Davis, of Westminster, and Suzanne H. and Tim Purdum, of Missoula, Montana; son and daughter-in-law Carl D. and Michele Soine, of LaPlata; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Gregory Paul Soine; a son-in-law, Christopher H. Davis; and sisters Harviene Myers Soine and Phyllis Katherine Soine.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brett Morgan officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
